Channing Murray Foundation Board of Governors

Rachel Lauren Storm serves as the President of the Board. She received her BA in International Studies with a focus in Gender and Development and is currently pursuing her PhD in Global Educational Policy Studies with minors in Gender and Women's Studies and Gender Relations in International Development. Rachel is the Assistant Director of the Women's Resources Center and is part of countless community organizations and projects working on social and environmental issues.

Rini Bhattacharya is Assistant Professor of Comparative and World Literature and Religion, and her research interests include British colonialism, postcolonial and postglobal India, and Indian Cinema. She has been an organizer for the Annual Tagore Festival at the Foundation. She lives in Urbana and has been a Board Member since 2011.

Anne Namatsi Lutomia is a doctoral Student in Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership in the Human Resource Development division at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She received her masters in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University in Minnesota and completed her Bachelor's in French and Education at Kenyatta University in Kenya. Her current research seeks to understand the feedback seeking behaviors of Nigerian Nurses.

Michael Brün is visiting assistant professor of Economics at the Illinois State University and the Treasurer of the Board.

Amanda was born and raised UU in Iowa City, IA. She has come to Champaign, IL to be a graduate student in the Program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology studying Native American evolution and migration. She has served on the board of several UU church committees before, and has been the leader of UU Young Adult groups for about 10 years now.

Pilar Eguez has her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Illinois and is completing a post-doc in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health. She has conducted extensive field research in food justice in Ecuador. Passionate about mindful consumption and environmentalism, she brings her knowledge to the Red Herring Committee at the Foundation.

John Milano is a graduate student in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois.

Mara Thacker is the South Asian Studies librarian at the International and Area Studies Library at the University of Illinois and assists in coordinating the West African Dance classes at Channing Murray Foundation. She's an avid dancer with a repertoire ranging from belly dance to salsa and beyond!
